Bendera NegaraKu Tercinta

Lakarkan bendera Malaysia dengan memahami setiap unsur yang terdapat
pada bendera Malaysia. Setiap ahli kumpulan dikehendaki melakar bendera Malaysia menggunakan perisisan yang bernama “paint”. Untuk melaksanakan tugasan ini, pergi ke Check Point (Bendera NegaraKu tercinta). Gunakan peta sebagai panduan untuk mencari check point ini. Tugasan hanya dikira selesai setelah semua ahli kumpulan dapat menyiapkan lakaran bendera Malaysia tersebut. Berikan setiap maksud warna bendera Malaysia. Anda boleh pergi kemana-mana makmal computer yang ada dengan menggunakan internet untuk mencari maksud tersebut.

As what the students had learn in the lab session, we were trying to make them throwing out and show what they had learn in the lab. To complete this task, each student in the team will be tested in make a drawing by using Ms Paint. They are required to draw a Malaysian flag, and once again the teamwork spirit are tested because they need to help each other to make the task quickly can be completed. Lets see what they had done :

Bendera Kolam

"Salah satu keunikan Malaysia adalah masyarakat majmuk yang terdiri daripada melayu, cina, India serta pribumi sabah dan Sarawak. Setiap kaum mempunyai budaya yang tersendiri. Mengeratkan hubungan siraturahmin antara kaum di Malaysia menjadi satu kewajipan kita sebagai rakyat Malaysia. Bagi memahami budaya masyarakat India, anda dikehendaki menyediakan kolam ialah salah satu budaya yang diamalkan ketika menyambut deepavali oleh masyarakat India. Sediakan satu kolam yang berbentuk bendera Malaysia menggunakan beras berwarna yang disediakan. Sediakan kolam dengan menggunakan sepenuhnya beras berwarna tersebut. Tugasan dikira tidak lengkap sekiranya masih terdapat baki beras berwarna. Cari maksud kolam dengan menggunakan internet."

Each teams are required to make a "kolam" of our Malaysian flag by using colourful rices. A team will be provided with 4 different clours, followed the colours that exist in the Malaysian flag. in this task, the student need quite high patient in order to make the flag looks fine. and, they also need to have basic knowledge about the flag such as how many lines it have, and how many "bucu" did the star have. below are some "beras" flags that successfully finished by some teams.

"Negara kita Malaysia menyambut pelbagai perayaan setiap tahun. Hari raya disambut oleh masyarakat melayu, Tahun Baru Cina disambut oleh masyarakat Cina dan Deepavali oleh masyarakat India. Tujukan ucapan selamat hari raya kepada salah satu kumpulan lawan anda dengan menyediakan satu kad ucapan hari raya. Kad boleh disediakan dengan menggunakan perisian “Microsoft Publisher”.
Ucapan hari raya adalah tugasan wajib. Markah bonus akan diberikan kepada kumpulan yang menyediakan lebih kad ucapan lebih daripada satu perayaan."

At this point, the team will be given 20 pieces of
pictures of the animals. so, the team require to pick only the correct 12 animals in the Chinese Zodiac. for the chinese, this will be their bonus point and quite hard for the malay and others.

Anda dikehendaki pergi ke check point (5 perdana menteri) dengan berpandukan peta yang diberi. Pilih salah satu komputer, buka “folder” yang bernama 5 perdana Menteri Malaysia, terdapat beberapa gambar Perdana Menteri Malaysia di situ. Sediakan satu “slide” persembahan yang memaparkan kelima – lima gambar perdana Menteri Malaysia dan sertakan sejarah atau maklumat yang berkaitan dengan kelima – lima perdana menteri tersebut. Bermula daripada Tunku Abdul Rahman bersertakan animasi yang menarik dengan menggunakan perisian “ Microsoft Power Point”.

Rules of the Games

The second talk were given after the Lab Session, at around 1.oo pm. The talk is about the rules and briefly how to play the Independence Chase game. Below, some presentation on rules of the games...

Each group will be given an egg, and it will be their team responsibility to take care of the egg from "broken".Since the egg had been draw and coloured with the Malaysian Flag, so they have to care of the egg just like the care of the country. They are allowed to sabotaj the others team's egg.

menteri) dengan berpandukan peta yang diberi. Pilih salah satu komputer,

And here is another completed task from a team that participated, Lomas team. This is the work of the "5 Perdana Menteri" checkpoint. In this checkpoints, the students are required to provide a powerpoint slide show using MS PowerPoint which presenting all the prime ministers that been ruled our country, Malaysia. They need to include the animation schemes, and find additional information through the internet.

The students able to complete the task, after they learned so hard and give full attention to the lesson during the Lab Session. Big claps for them.....!!

During the game, there are so many and much interesting things happened..seeing the work of all of the students is very impressive. they got so much ideas, and here are some of their faith in throwing out their feeling about our country. so amazing. they have to make these "ucapan" to our beloved Prime Minister in MS Word. what I gain from dis program???
the first thing that I clearly realized is the student should get the opportunity to learn IT based sooner than de age of 13 years old. They should expose to IT world in de early age such as at primary school. It is clear that IT environment have conquered this modern day, so everyone should keep up with this development. From de other view of point, to manage such as community program, ones should prepared mentally and physically.

Appreciation to a SMK Tabuan Jaya
I would like to express my huge thanks to all participate student from SMK Tabuan Jaya (what I heard almost all de student are from Class 1M, 1B, 2M and 2B) and from the ‘sporting’ accompanist teacher for their warming and cheering supportive for de program. They participate in the program wic such high spirit and great effort. This made de program happening, joyful and fill with nation independence spirit. Really thank you guys (my ‘kawaii’ and notty-botty budak-budak SMK Tabuan Jaya) for make it dis happen. Hope 2 see ya again next time (be a grown up adult k). Looking forward to day just like we have it on 29sept2007,de day full of memories…

Firstly, thank you 2 Mr. Johari, our supervisor in dis project for undeniable attention n useful guidelines keep us in track and stick to de objectives of dis competition. Not forget to all my hardworking teammates for de great effort for making de program successful. To Kak Lane, Lieza, Rossa n Shafa, I think we achieved all de objectives of de program. Our hardwork were paid finally. Thank u for all de supportive care n warming attention throughout de preparation for this program. Firstly alhamdulilah our group has been selected in semi final in this competition. From this program I get opportunity to learn something new such as time management because we don’t have enough time to manage this program. We only have 3 week for preparation because ct balik kampong on 2 October and all group member already buy ticket for hari raya so we choose 29 September for implementation. Many problems occur such as time constraint because independence chase program implement during “bulan puasa” but program implement successful, we also face problem because we have many project and assignment need to submit but in this situation i learn manage time and all task complete according our paln…i also get experience to manage finance, procedure to manage facilities, get purchase order, banner, shirt, transportation and manage this program in order to achieve our program successful.

Alhamdulillah our project “INDEPENDENCE CHASE” has completed successfully on 29th September 2007 exactly like what we have planned before. Special thanks to Mr. Johari Abdullah, as our supervisor he has guide us with a lots of advices and helps. To all my team members, thank you everyone (lieza, lane, ct and shafa) for the teamwork from the beginning of this projects till now. For the principle, teachers and also the students from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tabuan Jaya, thank you very much for participate in our project. And for our volunteers, thanks to all of them because their hands had helped us a lot during the day.

From the beginning of planning our project, we have found that time consuming and team management are very important in order to successfully manage our project. Because of the first due date given by Maxis Cyberlinq was on 26th October 2007, we have to make our project earlier, means in last week of September. We have chosen the day of 29th September 2007 because we have Hari Raya Holidays starting early October till last week of October. We only have around two weeks to prepare all our project needs before the day. And Alhamdulillah, all the preparation done before the day.

During the day, our “INDEPENDENCE CHASE” progress exactly like what we have planned. The students from SMK Tabuan Jaya had enjoyed the day even though most of us are fasting. After the game finished, we had our “Jamuan Berbuka Puasa” .
And lastly, Alhamdulillah again, our project and this blog have been successfully done. Thanks to all.

What I gained from this project??

ExperienceS…..! got lots of lots experience. Since this is my very first time in, u know..being an organizer…a lot of works, things and issues to be considered….i've learned how to deal with the upper management of Unimas, learned to be patient, and procedures are important in organizing and dealing with anyone. Everything must be done in a formal way, and got proven by the black and white documents . "Jasamu dikenang", Kak Khairina for helping our team..and not reluctant to answer me, who is always asking this and that..And, 0ne important thing I experienced from this project is teaching a group of students, that have very minimal skills of computing. Needs lots of patience.

To team members, big congratulations to ourselves, haha !! Finally! A very great thanks to KakLenny, KakCt, KakRossa and KakShapa for all the hardworks selama ini. (showed that I’m the youngest . *wink*).. After all the obstacles, challenges, issues and even the tiny and unexpected problems came through, we were still able to manage and push them out of our way to make our program run smoothly and successfully. Since our planning period for the implementation of this project only takes about a month and less, feel quite messy with all the procedures, plus need to concentrate on the mid term exam, projects and assignments…say no to surrender…Thanks to you guys, we did backup each other. Everyone did the very good job, from the beginning of the project up to the end. Big applause….. clap, clap!! Clap…

To the biggest group in the event, students of SMK Tabuan Jaya……thanks a lot guys. you've made the event alive..and used to be very supportive. I was afraid that these student will collapse during or after the game since we held it during the fasting month, but surprisingly they got very superb power. Also,thanks to the Cikgu Sani for the cooperation, to the Principal,thank u so much for such participation beyond our expectation. Asking for 20 students, but given 40 students, and a day before event they gave us 50 students.

Also thanks to our big boss, a beloved and a very supportive supervisor, Mr. Johari for his guidance with the advices throughout the progress of the program. He always come out with the superb ideas and solution to our problem, when we were lack of ideas and knowledge of managing a project. A very thankful to the staff of FCSIT, especially Kak Khairina, and Pn. Hadijah for their pleasure in helping us out.

Not to forget to our volunteers Meefa. Rina, Bob, Faliq and Erra, they helps us a lot. The game will be miserable without all of u..we cannot promise you guys anything, but we will do something as a return of favour. Then, thanks to Pakcik Bas, Mr. Ismail for his kindness in driving us and the students back and from the school. To Kak Mah, our caterer for that day, thanks for the delicious meal we had for "berbuka puasa" event..Our cameraman, Mr Arif… whose volunteerily gave you the best shot of that day.

Seriously and honestly, I feel very satisfied with this program. Seeing the face of each students of the SMK Tabuan Jaya, gaves me the feel of excitement and satisfaction that our Independence Chase program is successful. .

we have decided to make the Independent Chase game to be happen on Saturday, 29th September 2007. Due to the date which is fall in the Ramadhan the fasting month, we had changed most of the program flow instead of using the proposed tentative and the proposed game flow. we will make the game lighter and more in indoors area to prevent the Muslims student from dehydrate....hehe...

and, we also will organize one "Majlis Berbuker Puaser" for all the participants.... great isn it?? even the Indian, Chinese and the 'pribumi' can experience the Ramadhan and Raya day together with the Muslims.......

here is the design of our banner that will be used during the event day. it been designed by our honor designer, Ms Rosa..hehe...very nice picture from her.

we had choose the QM Marketing, located besides the MAS Building in Kuching to print out the banner. The banner valued RM 80.00. we hang the banner at the starting point of out chase for the event day, in the middle of two FCSIT building.

The game flow for the "Independence Chase" game. there will be 10 checkpoints includes in the chase, where 5 of the tasks needs the computer skills and the other 5 tasks is tesing in their knowledge of the general issuses, especially the endependence days, history of Malaysia and the theory of basics computing .

each teams need to complete the single tasks before can proceed to the next tasks. we are focus on the team hardwork and the teamwork spirit.

Schools Selected

We went to the 3 secondary schools to invite their students to j0in our 'Independence Chase' program. We hand the oficial invitation letter to the pricipals of the schools enclosed with the program tentative and brief description of the event.
The invited schools are SMK Kota Samarahan, SMK Muara Tuang and SMK Tabuan Jaya. We will get their confirmation regarding the program within 5 days from today through the telephone call.

SMK Muara Tuang

out of the 3 schools we did invite, the SMK Muara Tuang are interested but the school cannot provide the number of students that we requested. And, luckily, we got a quick responds from the principal of SMK Tabuan Jaya that the school is willing to the their students to join our program. We request 20 students, but he ask if the school may send 40 students, but we may not make a guarantee and agree with them because still waiting for the responds of SMK Muara Tuang.

After few days, the SMK Muara Tuang reconfirmed with us that they are not able to send their students. so, we make a quick call to the SMK Tabuan Jaya for their participations. they agreed to send out 4o students to join our program. Thanks to SMK Tabuan Jaya.

Project Title

"Independent Chase "

Project Overview

We have decided to organized one game-based community program title ‘Independent Chase’ based on the theme that been chosen by the Maxis CyberlinQ organizer which is inline with our 50th years of Merdeka celebrations, "What can you do for the Country? Begin with your own community" for the Maxis CyberlinQ Competition 2007 contest.
We believe that this community program might help in promoting strong relationship and goodwill among multiple races, increasing patriotism and enhancing the IT knowledge, so that those could be applied in daily environment.

Project Objective

To absorb IT knowledge at a student level.
To test the history knowledge of our country.
To realize the spirit unite within races and patriotism.
To strengthen the physical strength and mental abilities.

Project Structure

This project is based on the treasure hunt game concept where all players need to search for the object required based on the clues given. In this "Independent Chase" we combine the IT knowledge and hardware usage and general knowledge such as history to become clues and tasks to be done.

The proposed community project will be conducted in a one day. The first session will be held in the morning and the final session will be continue in the afternoon. There are several activities within one game ‘Independent Chase’ during the day to achieve the intended objectives of the project.

We will be doing two sessions which are as follows:

1) Briefing.

- Explain about rules and regulations of the game.

2) Treasure Hunt.

a) First Round.

- All 10 teams will compete with each other. There will be 7 tasks in this round. One by one team will be eliminating after third task.

-All the task will be given base on IT application and hardware usage, and test the participant's physical and mental strength to complete the task.

- Each clue at the check point will test the participant's general knowledge about our independent country.

b) Second Round.

- There will be only 6 teams in this round and 3 teams will nominate to the winner.

- In this round, participant will be test on the same concept but the task will a bit challenging.

3) Feedback
- Distribute the survey forms to all students to get their feedback regards the project.

Below, is the tentative for this game-based community program;

8.00 – 8.30 : Arrival and registration of the participants.
Distribute the refreshments and T-shirts.
8.30 – 9.00 : Opening ceremony by organizer.
9.00 – 9.15 : Briefing the rule and regulation of the game.
9.15 – 12.00 : Start the first session game.
12.00 – 12.15: Finalist will be announced.
12.00 – 2.00 : Refreshment and preparation for final session.
2.00 – 2.15 : Briefing the rule and regulation of the game.
2.15 - 5.00 : Start the final session.
5.00 - 5.30 : End of the game and winner prize giving.

This game divided into 2 sessions. First session will consist of 10 groups and the second session only 6 groups will participate after the elimination in the first session. For first session consist of 7 tasks and second session (final session) consists of 5 tasks.

Most of the tasks in the game require IT skills and knowledge such as internet usage (help to find the information about the clue). The game also tested about computer hardware such as mouse, keyboard and etc. This game also required physical strength because almost all the task participants have to make use of their strength and energy to complete the 7 tasks within 3 hours. The elimination round will start on the third task. So, in the end of this session, there will be only 6 groups left.

In the second session, all the 6 group left have to complete all the tasks in this session as soon as they can because only 3 final clue available for the 3 fastest groups. Those 3 groups are the winner of the game.

Group target

School students and number of participants will be around 40 students. We have sent our official proposals to five secondary schools; SMK. Tabuan Jaya, SMK Kota Samarahan, SMK Muara Tuang, SMK Wira Penrissen and SMK Sg.Tapang. Each school has to provide 2 teams (four students per team) and one teacher to escort the student. We expect to receive their reply on the fourth week of August.

Budget Details

1.Event banner (Maxis, Hotlink and MBC logos will be included)=RM 80

2. Refreshments for both participants and organizer = RM 300

3. Transportation from school to UNIMAS = RM 100

4.Souvenirs, fliers, t-shirts for organizer and participants = RM 300

5.Prize = RM 220

Total= RM 1000

Expected Outcome

To promote relationship among multiple races, increase patriotism, enhance IT knowledge and apply in daily environment.
